Northrop Grumman has broken ground on a new facility at its Roy Innovation Center (RIC) in Utah, marking a significant expansion to support the U.S. Air Force’s Sentinel Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) programme and other advanced aerospace and defence missions. The development underscores the company’s continued investment in strategic deterrence and national security capabilities.
The new “Legacy Building” will increase the RIC campus to six facilities, spanning more than 1.1 million square feet of office space. Construction is set to begin this summer, with completion expected by 2028. The expansion will support the growing Sentinel programme and is expected to create hundreds of new jobs, adding to the nearly 5,000 employees currently contributing to the programme nationwide.
As the largest defence contractor in Utah, Northrop Grumman plays a major role in the state’s economy, employing over 11,000 people and supporting more than 46,000 jobs. The company’s operations generate significant economic impact, contributing billions to the state through its aerospace and defence activities.
