Rheinmetall Delivers Unterlüß-Made Artillery Ammunition to Ukraine

by Aaheli De

Rheinmetall has delivered artillery ammunition to Ukraine for the first time from its Unterlüß facility. Previous deliveries were supplied from other sites within the company’s production network. The shipment includes a low five-figure number of artillery projectiles, along with propellant charges produced at other Rheinmetall facilities. More than half of the order has already been delivered, with the remainder scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.

The delivery also marks the first operational supply of projectiles manufactured at Rheinmetall’s new ‘Werk Niedersachsen’ (Lower Saxony plant). The RH1412 projectiles are the latest addition to the company’s artillery portfolio and are compatible with a range of 155 mm weapon systems, offering extended range and high effectiveness.

The delivery reflects Rheinmetall’s continued expansion of its artillery production capabilities to meet growing demand for 155 mm ammunition and propellant charges. The company is investing in expanding existing facilities and establishing new production sites. Rheinmetall is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of large-calibre ammunition. Since 2022, the Düsseldorf-based technology group has been increasing its production capacity and aims at producing around 1.5 million 155 mm artillery projectiles annually by 2030.
