Anemo Engineering Showcases Clinserts® Tools at Farnborough

by Aaheli De

Anemo Engineering will showcase three dedicated Clinserts® tools at the Farnborough International Airshow to improve the safe removal and installation of key-locking threaded inserts used in aircraft engines. The Belgian engineering specialist will present the Extrakt Tool, RESISTEEL® Broaching Tool and PRO-Tool, designed to improve precision, repeatability and safety during engine maintenance.

Aircraft engines contain hundreds of key-locking threaded inserts that reinforce critical bolted connections. Replacing these inserts involves extraction, pre-broaching and installation, processes that are still often performed using generic tools, increasing the risk of parent material damage, misalignment and metal debris entering the engine.

“What surprised us most was not the number of inserts in an engine, but the lack of control in how they are removed,” says Bart Vandezande, CEO of Anemo Engineering. “At that level, workshop guesswork is simply not acceptable. That’s why we engineered three specialised Clinserts® tools that cover the full insert workflow, from removal to installation.”

The three Clinserts® tools address each stage of the insert replacement process. The Extrakt Tool provides a controlled and repeatable method for removing worn or damaged inserts, reducing the risk of damaging the parent material and preventing loose debris from entering the engine. The RESISTEEL® Broaching Tool prepares ultra-hard steel holes with consistent accuracy, delivering performance up to 50 times better than conventional tools, even in materials harder than 300 Vickers.

Anemo’s patented PRO-Tool enables technicians to install inserts and locking keys to the OEM-required depth of 0.01 to 0.03 inch. The tool guides locking keys during installation, helping prevent key bending while protecting the parent material.
