HAVELSAN Advances Maritime Surveillance With BLUEVISION

by Arabian_User
HAVELSAN’s AI-powered digital lookout system, BLUEVISION, demonstrates its effectiveness across a range of maritime platforms, enhancing situational awareness in increasingly complex operational environments.

Designed to complement existing radar and Automatic Identification System (AIS) technologies, BLUEVISION introduces a visual intelligence layer that helps operators detect, track, and assess objects such as small boats, floating debris, and low-visibility contacts that may otherwise go unnoticed.

The system is already operational on the SANCAR Armed Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV), which entered service with the Turkish Naval Forces in 2026. Integrated with HAVELSAN’s ADVENT Combat Management System, BLUEVISION supports autonomous navigation and mission execution through real-time detection, tracking and risk assessment. It has completed collision avoidance and search-and-rescue test activities under the SANCAR programme.

BLUEVISION combines electro-optical sensors, artificial intelligence and sensor fusion into a unified interface. By integrating data from cameras, AIS and navigation systems, it enables operators to rapidly verify and respond to potential threats or hazards. The system can detect and classify objects, estimate positions and generate continuous tracking data enriched with risk information.

Operating with both thermal and daylight cameras, BLUEVISION provides round-the-clock monitoring. It overlays digital information directly onto live video feeds, reducing the need for operators to switch between multiple systems and improving decision-making efficiency.

Functioning as a digital lookout, the system delivers visual and audible alerts when potential collision risks or navigational hazards are identified. This reduces operator workload and supports faster, more informed responses in dynamic maritime conditions.

In military applications, BLUEVISION enhances safe navigation, collision avoidance and tracking of unidentified contacts, including detection of non-cooperative or “dark” vessels. Its passive electro-optical capability also supports covert operations where active sensors may be restricted. In long-duration missions such as search and rescue, the system automates continuous monitoring, reducing operator fatigue.

Beyond the SANCAR platform, BLUEVISION has been integrated into RAFNAR boats through collaboration with VN Maritime and Piloda Shipyard, and it is also being deployed in commercial maritime operations. Its modular software-based architecture allows configuration for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), Search and Rescue (SAR), and submarine periscope observation missions.

Drawing on HAVELSAN’s expertise in combat management systems and autonomous platforms, BLUEVISION represents a significant step in integrating artificial intelligence into everyday maritime operations.
