The Do228 NXT turboprop aircraft marked a significant milestone at ILA Berlin 2026 with its official water salute, traditionally used to commemorate major aviation achievements such as new aircraft introductions. The moment highlighted the aircraft’s transition into a new phase following its unveiling to the global public the previous week, representing a new chapter in the evolution of the Dornier 228 family.
Following a successful first flight and completion of required test procedures, the Do228 NXT demonstrator was showcased in a new special livery within the static display area at the airshow. The aircraft drew strong attention from manufacturers, customers, and international delegations attending the event. Throughout ILA Berlin 2026, it emerged as one of the standout exhibits, attracting significant visitor interest and becoming one of the most photographed aircraft during the public days.

General Atomics AeroTec Systems (GA-ATS) is the OEM of the Do228, which is used worldwide for special missions as well as passenger and cargo transportation. At its Oberpfaffenhofen facility, the company develops and produces the Do228 NXT with around 400 employees and is also active in maintaining and repairing the Do228 and military helicopters. GA-ATS additionally operates a Do228 flight simulator. The company is part of the General Atomics Europe group and an affiliate of General Atomics.
