Thales’s Ymare site expands its industrial capabilities to bolster European air defence

Thales continues to invest in its Rouen-Ymare site, with the creation of new industrial facilities, which involves recruitment, and ongoing team training, in order to best meet the growing demand for air surveillance and defense radars for the armed forces.

This 13-hectare site, located in Seine-Maritime, is home to the design, production, and integration, of radars that play an essential role in air and maritime surveillance, serving the sovereignty of nations and the security of their populations.

Building on this expertise, Thales is implementing a new project to develop its local industrial footprint, with the production of multifunction surveillance and air defense radars, as well as digital modules. This will increase radar production for the armed forces and enable Thales to respond even more effectively to the growing sovereignty needs of its customers in France, Europe, and around the world.

We are very proud to celebrate 40 years of radar excellence in Ymare. Established in 1985, this site has grown significantly and now ranks among the world’s best. With this industrial expansion, we are opening a new chapter aimed at more effectively meeting the growing needs of the armed forces. We especially thank our on-site teams and partners for their support and commitment to this project.”  Eric Huber, Vice President, Surface Radars, Thales.
