Saab is adapting the organisation so that governance and management will better support the company’s growth ambitions. A clearer connection is being created between business area, core area and services. Customer interaction is simplified, internal interfaces are removed and there is increased focus on operational efficiency.
“Saab has a strong position in the market and offers high-tech solutions at the forefront of the industry. Based on this position, the organisation is now being adapted to be able to take the next step in the company’s growth journey and internationalization. It will also strengthen our investments in tomorrow’s technologies and services”, says Saab’s President and CEO Micael Johansson.
These changes will contribute to Saab’s long-term goals. Synergies will be continuously identified and implemented. All changes will apply from 1st July 2021.
A new structure is being created with four business areas, all of which have a clear connection to the defined core areas. The four business areas will be: Aeronautics (core area aeronautics), Dynamics (core area advanced weapon systems), Kockums (core area underwater) and Surveillance (core areas sensors and command & control).
The business areas Industrial Products & Services (IPS) and Support & Services (S&S) are thus integrated with the four other business areas above. Ellen Molin, Head of Business Area S&S, has been appointed Deputy Head of Aeronautics. Jessica Öberg, Head of Business Area IPS, has been appointed CEO of Combitech. Ellen Molin and Jessica Öberg will therefore leave Group Management on 1st July 2021.
Deputy CEO Anders Carp, who is also Head of Business Area Surveillance, will become Deputy CEO full-time and will leave his role as Head of Business Area. Anders Carp will continue to work with customer relations and group-wide projects, primarily Saab’s internationalization. Recruitment for the Head of the Surveillance Business Area has begun.
The new central function with responsibility for Operational Excellence will be responsible for developing and supporting the organisation in all aspects of operational efficiency. Recruitment for a manager is underway.
Combitech is an independent technology consulting company but until now has been part of Saab’s business area IPS. In the new organisation, Combitech’s independence will increase further and it will not be part of the business area structure. The purpose of increased independence is to further support Combitech’s growth journey outside Saab, in the manufacturing industry, service sector, public sector and defense. Combitech’s CEO will report to Saab’s CEO in an independent role from 1st July.
